Dóra Benyó’s body of work, spanning painting, video, and performance, is deeply rooted in personal and political narratives, exploring her connection to her motherland, Hungary, and its dictatorial past. Working from archival materials and personal ephemera from her grandparents. Benyó translates her research into painting, by blurring identities, timelines, and distinctions between fact and legend. Her work explores the space between documentation and imagination, questioning how memories are constructed and transmitted, and what is lost over time.
