Since the founding of Art Brussels in 1968, contemporary art has evolved through diversity, experimentation, and the breaking of traditional boundaries. ’68 Forward is a section dedicated to these varied artistic movements, offering a platform for both established artists and those who have remained under the radar.
Enhance your Prime or ’68 Forward booth with a dedicated Solo presentation. To qualify for the Solo section, galleries must propose a project-based presentation featuring one living artist. The project should offer a focused and in-depth reflection on the artist’s practice, with an emphasis on ambition and experimentation. Site-specific works are encouraged.
This section offers galleries the opportunity to present a large-scale project by one artist that goes beyond the traditional booth format in both scale and ambition. These groundbreaking works push boundaries and help shape new horizons, inviting viewers to look beyond the familiar and explore fresh perspectives. The selected projects will be showcased together in Hall 6, within a specially designed exhibition setting.
This committee, composed of Belgian and foreign gallerists, selects the participating galleries in Prime and ‘68 Forward as well as the Solo presentations.

Art Brussels is renowned for its extraordinary base of loyal and committed national and international art collectors. The fair places special emphasis on fostering a new collectors’ scene through the support of international VIP ambassadors and a dedicated programme aimed at attracting new collectors. Participating galleries also benefit from exclusive access to a list of registered collectors, enabling them to prepare and make the most of the event.
As a content-driven and collector-friendly fair, Art Brussels prioritizes quality over quantity, presenting a human-sized event with around 150 carefully selected galleries. The fair is celebrated for its balanced representation of established and emerging artists, for its curatorial selections and its many solo presentations.
Art Brussels’ dedicated team is committed to providing personalized support to exhibiting gallerists, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere. Art Brussels stands out as an independent player amongst the world’s leading art fairs, with a unique identity that resonates with its audiences.
“The Art Brussels collector is open to novelties, curious and knowledgeable. This is why Art Brussels remains the leading contemporary art event in the Benelux region. Since 1968, it has been an important meeting point for committed collectors, curators and art enthusiasts, recognised for its strong and precise gallery selection, presenting artworks from 1968 to today, from discoveries and established talents to rediscoveries. Thanks to this qualitative offer, its attentive VIP team and its broad network of international art ambassadors, the fair has become a not-to-be-missed date in April each year.
For Art Brussels 2027, we present the second edition of the Horizons section, dedicated to large-scale works selected by Chris Dercon, General Director of the Fondation Cartier, Paris, alongside prizes such as the Discovery Acquisition Prize, which helps galleries place works in museum collections.
With its welcoming atmosphere and focused VIP events, Art Brussels fosters direct conversations and long-term relationships between galleries, collectors and institutions.”
– Nele Verhaeren, Managing Director, Art Brussels & Art Antwerp
Art Brussels 2026 was a very positive experience for us, with strong engagement and solid sales, including works by Ali Cherri. There was a particularly strong interest in his practice, which is very encouraging ahead of his upcoming exhibition at WIELS this September. The reduced number of exhibitors allowed for a more focused fair, placing greater emphasis on quality and more in-depth conversations. We also met a dynamic international audience, with many visitors travelling from abroad, leading to meaningful new encounters and exchanges.”
— Gwenvael Launay, Partner and Director, Almine Rech Brussels
“I found Art Brussels 2025 to be an excellent fair: perfectly suited to Belgium and Brussels. I saw many happy people, a lot of good and affordable art, and a lot of enthusiasm and passion from both local and international collectors as well as gallerists. The organisation of the fair was also top! So, on to the next edition.”
– Joost Vanhaerents, Vanhaerents Art Collection
“For its 41st edition, Art Brussels reaffirms its unique position among major European art fairs: bold without arrogance, cutting-edge without being exclusionary, it maintains a distinct identity, firmly rooted in the Belgian art ecosystem while radiating internationally.”
– Gwennaëlle Gribaumont, La Libre, April 2025
“Top local key players are the assets of an art fair. Art Brussels, too, will always remain anchored in the region: for foreign visitors, that makes the experience unique. Otherwise, wouldn’t all art fairs be interchangeable?”
– Boris Vervoordt, Axel Vervoordt Gallery (Wijnegem, Hong Kong), in De Standaard, April 2024
“We had a very strong edition at Art Brussels this year, with particularly good sales from the very first day. We were also very pleased with the new VIP format, which created a relaxed atmosphere and led to many high-quality conversations. Overall, the fair felt significantly stronger than last year. Most importantly, we sold primarily to visitors present at the fair—which is exactly what a fair should do—so we are extremely satisfied. Our solo presentation was a great success.”
— Pierre Lannoy, Mendes Wood DM (Brussels, São Paulo, Paris, New York) about Art Brussels 2026
“We were pleased to present a historic work by Oswald Oberhuber in the Horizons section of Art Brussels, shown publicly for the first time since the 1980s. Carefully curated by Devrim Bayar, the section offered a unique framework to exhibit this monumental piece—measuring four by seventeen meters—at a scale and context it truly deserves. Presenting the work in Belgium, where the artist has a longstanding exhibition history, felt particularly meaningful. It also marked a special collaboration between two well-established Viennese galleries, Galerie Krinzinger and Galerie nächst St. Stephan, and we were very happy with the strong and thoughtful response from both the public and the professional audience.”
— Raphael Oberhuber, Director Galerie nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder (Vienna) about Art Brussels 2026
“For this third edition, in which we are participating, we have finalized several sales with collectors we met during the first edition. The audience is loyal, turning out for both the opening day and the weekend, and our relationships continue to grow stronger over time.”
— Magnin-A (Paris) about Art Brussels 2026
“Our first participation at Art Brussels has been a fantastic experience. We had the pleasure of connecting with a great number of collectors, institutions and art enthusiasts, and are thrilled to have had a sold out booth.”
