The Why Not Gallery, founded in 2018 by artist Gvantsa Jishkariani and curator Ellen Kapanadze, is a Tbilisi-based contemporary art space dedicated to supporting emerging Georgian artists. Initially an experimental not-for-profit project in an underground passageway, it moved to a permanent space in 2020, expanding its exhibition program. Now a key player in Georgia’s art scene, the gallery fosters emerging talent, often hosting artists’ first solo shows. Committed to challenging conventions, it also researches Georgia’s Soviet heritage, rediscovering overlooked artists from that era.
