Jahn und Jahn was founded in 2017 through the merger of Fred Jahn and Matthias Jahn’s galleries. Fred Jahn had opened Galerie Fred Jahn in 1978, focusing on international contemporary artists like Baselitz, Richter, and Sandback. Matthias Jahn launched his gallery in 2008, initially centered on emerging artists linked to Günther Förg, later expanding internationally. In 2018, Tim Geissler joined as partner, followed by Anka Ziefer and Carolina Trigueiros as senior directors in 2022. That same year, a new space opened in Lisbon. Artist collaboration and self-published exhibition catalogues remain central to the gallery’s identity.
